Turning Three

I’m back here in Atlanta safe and sound after spending the last week shooting in Los Angeles.  I sure missed my husband and my children, and while I do love LA it is great to be back to my new home Atlanta.  I have some emails to catch up on, so if you are waiting on one from me, I’ll be responding asap!   It was awesome to see some of my LA clients again.  Many of them I’ve had the pleasure of seeing every year since they were brand new babies!

Miss M has been a client of mine for three years now.  It’s always so neat to see my little clients each year and to see how much they’ve grown since our last portrait session.  Last year at this time she was shy, quiet and very reserved, this year she was spunky, talkative and so silly, we had a great time.  She had a very special birthday party this weekend too, so this past week was very busy for her.

I’ll be sharing some sneak peeks of my California clients all this week.  Here are a few from my morning with sweet little Miss M.

Wicked

Remember the scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts & Richard Gere are at the opera and a woman asks her how she liked the opera and Julia’s response was: “It was so good, I almost peed my pants!”  Yep Wicked was that good.  Wow, it was truly amazing, I would put it up there with Phantom of the Opera on my favorites list (and I’ve seen Phantom four times now).  As my husband loves to point out “yeah she cried again”.  I think I am slowly developing a crybaby reputation, but yes there was a lot of boohooing at the end of it (and no I was not the only one, there were lots of other people crying too! ;-) )  It’s currently running in LA, Chicago and New York.  Please please put this on your to do list if you are in one of these cities or plan to visit.  I heard that it might be going on tour, so keep your eyes open for that!

Before we got there I reminded my husband that one of my favorite restaurants is close by so we had dinner at Chin Chin.  Seriously, people, if you are in LA (or in Vegas) you have to eat at Chin Chin and get the chinese chicken salad.  It is to die for.  I am so going to miss that when we leave LA, maybe I can pretend I’m a celebrity and they will have the salad flown by private just for me to Atlanta.  Yeah and then I’ll wake up from that dream now won’t I?  A girl can dream right?

I’m soooo not a food photographer, so my little point and shoot camera photo makes it look sort of gross, but trust me, its heaven on a plate…

We were a little early so we walked around and then we bumped in to Bette Davis and hung out with her for a while.  She didn’t say much..

The Pantages is such a BEAUTIFUL theater and it’s even prettier inside but men in vests come and scold you if you take photos, so you will just have to have a look at this shot of the ceiling from the outside waiting area.

Spencer loved Wicked!  I feel bad about leaving my little one at home but there is no way she would have been able to sit through three hours without having a toddler episode, so she partied with Grandma at home.
Just pretend you don’t see bad flash here and the dreaded red eyes, I was being a Mom not a photographer.  Just a note if you do decide to see the play, don’t buy the cd or the book there, they are like $30 each, same book and same cd on Amazon.com are less than $10 each.  We did buy the program and a tiny little shot of Diet Coke that was like $400, ok maybe it was $6, but it felt like $400.

Outside The Pantages after the show

Her name was Lola…

This beautiful little baby girl that I recently photographed was close by in Redondo Beach. Her Mom and Dad had so many wonderful ideas for me and we had so much fun. Lola was a perfect little sweetheart and her parents are in trouble, cause let me tell you this little heartbreaker already has Mom & Dad wrapped around those little baby fingers. I loved all of her hair, she had so much and at the end we even spiked it up for a rock n’ roll shot! Thank you to Lola’s parents for being so sweet and kind to me, she is such a beautiful baby and the smiles on your faces when you looked at her were priceless!

Here are a few photos from our session that day.
Her nursery has a monkey theme so I made sure to get several shots working in her monkeys! Her Dad is from South Africa and she even has some monkey toys from there.

I loved how she was looking at her Daddy when we were getting ready for the next photo

Now you know I had to get a shot of her on the giraffe because the toy company I work for makes them! I was so excited to see that they had one!

Relaxing with her sweet Mommy and it looks like she’s giving me the baby power sign with her hand!

Turning Three

Yesterday I photographed a super cute little boy who is turning three next month. It is an exciting time for him, not only will be be turning three but he will be getting his very first haircut or Upsherin as it is referred to in the Jewish faith.

I tell ya, it was a beautiful day here in LA yesterday but it was a scorcher! We braved the heat and had a lot of fun with our portrait session. Thank you to the G family, you are all so sweet and I thank you for choosing me to document this special time in your lives.

Here are a few photos from our time together today!

While everyone was getting ready, I had to get this quick shot of their sweet baby girl, she was so happy in her little swing. So very cute

Just a little early

I’m impatient, it’s so hard to wait for things, like right this instant I’m going bananas because August seems so so very far away until we go on our family vacation.  By the time August comes you all will be so glad that I’m finally going so that I will stop talking about it.  So I instantly knew that I would get along well with my newborn baby client this morning because he doesn’t like to wait for things either.  I traveled to El Segundo to meet baby J and his Mommy & Daddy for his very first portrait session.  Mr. J decided to arrive five weeks before his due date!  He was ready to take on the world, no more holding him back, he was tired of waiting.  So of course my first question for his Mom - wow, so was he in the Nicu? Did he have any problems.  Nope, he came out perfect in every way, and came home a few days after he arrived.  He is now three weeks old, but technically not due for another two weeks.  Wow that’s a lot of math.  ;)

I think he got the memo from the other newborns that I see, because he just wanted to stay up and party with us, sleeping is for babies he said, he’s 3 weeks old, a man about town.  But finally when we were almost done, he decided to give in and just sleep.  He was such a good baby for us today, and his Mom & Dad were beaming with pride and were so kind and gentle.  I had a wonderful time and thank you to the G family for welcoming me to your home!

Here are a few photos from our time together…

I love how he has his tongue stuck out!

Then he decided he was tired…

His Mom had an idea that she wanted to try!  I think if we had waited a few days later we couldn’t have done it, he was almost too long already, but I think we did great and it’s so cute.

and since he was sleeping so well for us, we just took him around the house and started putting him places, like his Dad’s desk…(the G is for his last name)

Check back in a day or so as I’ll be sharing some client photos of a special Birthday Boy.
