Portrait of a 150 year old…

Today I traveled up the 405 freeway (which was insane by the way, a RV was on fire and it looked like I was driving in to hell with all that smoke and fire going across the freeway, I hope the drivers are ok) to photograph a 150 year old.  Ok ok so my little client today is only six months but his christening dress is 150 years old!  His Mom was photographed in this dress when she was three months old, so his wonderful grandmother just couldn’t resist the chance to try and recreate the same photo all these years later.  He came all the way from North Carolina for our session today.

Now I tell you, this little guy was so sweet and such a trooper, especially since it was pushing 100 degrees today, he just smiled and laughed and had the best time.  So he’s wearing the same christening dress and sitting in the same chair that his mother sat in (although it’s been reupholstered so it looks a little different now)

So here is the super happy and oh so sweet little Connor, he makes me smile

Angela…we just fell in love with the photo of Connor in his mother’s child chair in the living room. It made everyone smile! We are now so sad to have just met you and realize you are moving to Atlanta and won’t be available for more photos of Connor as he grows. However, my daughter said Atlanta is only a 3 hour drive from Charlotte…so I think you will be seeing this little man in your near future! Good luck in Atlanta….they are lucky to have you moving there!

My Granddaughter

Every parent thinks about those days when they will grow older and become a grand parent. My Mother In Law told me that being a grand parent is a dream come true for her, and let me tell you she’s a good one. My Grandma is a good one too, she raised me and I turned out sort of ok right?  Ok do not answer that one, just smile and nod your head. ;-) I often wonder if I will be a good grand parent, I think I already have the spoiling thing down so I must be on the right path.

My little one came to me the other day and said “Mommy this is your grandgirl and you should take a picture of her, do you love her…” So I did what any proud Grandmother would do. I took a picture of her. Look at her beautiful blue eyes, just like her Mommy (aka Morgan my 3 1/2 year old) and her skin is so perfect. I’m one proud Grandma. ;-)

My fortune from a few weeks ago, I saved it and kept forgetting to share it.  I love this and I think it’s a perfect message for a photographer…

Poor Monday

I feel sorry for Monday, I really do.  Everyone looks forward to Friday because it kicks off the weekend.  On Sunday you hear kids whining because they have to go to school the next day, adults whining because they have to sit in traffic on the freeway the next morning and head to work.  Poor Monday, it just gets the raw end of the deal.

To make your Monday a little less blah, check out these funny dogs that I photographed at the Haute Dog Parade last year.  This year’s Easter Parade will be held on March 23 in Long Beach.  Let me tell you, your kids will have a blast, mine come home with the biggest smiles on their faces, they love being able to pet all of the dogs.  Where else can you see a pomeranian dressed up like a Easter Pimp? ;-) It’s free and open to the public!

The Entrepreneur

One of my fabulous clients is one of the co-founders of Delight.com and Delightful Blogs and she was featured in the February issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.  She and her business partner live in two different states and in the article they discuss how important digital cameras are to their business.  Congrats to Lynda! This is fantastic exposure for her business.  I also think it’s cool that they used one of the photos I took of her, she’s the hottie in the blue jacket below.  They cropped out my favorite part of the image though, which was Lynda’s Delight Company sign that was hanging next to her in the shot.  If you have not checked out delight.com you are missing out, they have the best stuff on their site every day, be sure to have your credit card ready!
