Sean | Buckhead Children’s Photographer

This afternoon I traveled to Buckhead to photograph a super cute 19 month old boy named Sean.  Like most little ones his age he was super busy but he was so much fun and he gives *the* best high fives around!  I think we finished up just in time because the minute I got back home it started hailing gum ball and golf ball sized hail!  That is a new one for us, I think we only saw hail once in Los Angeles and it was itty bitty.

This first shot below was taken when Sean and I were hanging out while his Mommy & Daddy were getting ready.  I always adore shots of babies and kids just doing their thing, wearing whatever they would normally wear if they were just being a kid and not a photo shoot participant. Thank you to Sean’s Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt & baby cousin for being so kind to me and for being so much fun! It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.  Here are a few from our afternoon together:

what a beautiful family, and a little handsome cutie he is! Love that first shot, shows so much personality in him!

Kimberly Hill - April 11, 2009 - 5:54 am

I can’t pick a favorite. The excessive cuteness of him being just him in the first, the texture of the yummy bench and classic chambray/denim, or the pride in his parents’ faces in the last. They need all of them!

Dena Robles - April 13, 2009 - 7:50 am

He looks like so much fun. I love the first black and white image especially.

Kristie Chadwick - April 13, 2009 - 2:42 pm

I love his hair! The picture on the bench is just perfect.

He is adorable, and I totally agree, it is definitely cool to capture them before they become all “picture=fied”, hehe. Great images as always.

TonyaMarie - April 19, 2009 - 2:31 pm

What a handsome little guy! Love the image on the bench. And the family shot is fantastic.

CarmenM - April 20, 2009 - 9:10 am

That boy is the cutest! How did you not take that bench with you?
Beautiful photos.

Jen Rinaldi Photography - April 22, 2009 - 9:56 am

Oh he is a super cutie! Love that one of him on the bench. He looks so cute propped up there. :)

A Home Away From Home | Atlanta Family Photographer

Today I traveled to a very special place here in Atlanta.  I visited the Ronald McDonald House located just minutes from Emory University.  This is a brand new facility that just opened in June 2008 and has 50 bedrooms for families to stay in while their children are being treated at Children’s Hospital.  Let me tell you, I was amazed at how beautiful this place was, it felt like I was in a five star hotel yet at home at the same time.  I was so happy as I was touring the building because I couldn’t get over how wonderful it was for all of the families who have and will come through their doors.  Did you know that there are 284 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide with more than 6,200 rooms for families?  Um WOW!

Right now here in Atlanta the Ronald McDonald House is having a raffle and you can win a brand new BMW convertible.  I think I need that!  So if any of you think you need it, or would like to make a donation you can visit their website.  They are always looking for non-cash donations as well – such as household supplies, so be sure and check out their wish list!

My mission this morning was to photograph the Spadgenske (Spah-GEN-skee) family from Birmingham, Alabama.  They have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House over 15 times!  Their first visit to the Houston Mill House was in January 1996 when their daughter Lily was only 30 days old. Shortly after, Lily received her liver transplant when she was 54 days old and the family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House until Lily was able to go home.  Their son, Sawyer, had his liver transplant when he was only ten days old in April of 2000. The family stayed at the House for two months until Sawyer was able to return home.

I have a confession to make.  I seriously wanted to pack this family in to my mini van and bring them home with me.  This family has a bond that is just so amazing, true and real.  For the many challenges they have gone through so far you would NEVER EVER be able to tell it.  They were so full of life, happy and so much fun.  I think my heart must have grown like 10x today just spending time with them.

I think I was a hit with Sawyer & Lily because I know ALLLL about Nintendo DS games (they each had a DS – lily had a pink one and Sawyer had a blue one). Next time I see them we are going to Pictochat like crazy!  When I started to leave I got *the* biggest and best group hug from them ever.  Of course then Sawyer had to flex his muscles, yep he is one strong little dude!  One of the reasons I love photographing children is because of their honesty and acceptance of others unconditionally, they never worry if you are having a bad hair day or that your socks don’t match, but they love to laugh when you wear a silly moustache. ;)

Thank you to the Spadgenske family, it is a pleasure to know you and to now call you my friends and thank you to the wonderful people at the Ronald McDonald House for making this possible.

Here are a few photos to share from our time together.

The RMD house is an awesome place. My BIL and his wife stayed at one when their dd was born at 30 weeks and had to stay at the NICU for a long period of time. They always talked about how well taken care of and what a great place it was. Like you said a home away from home.

Baby Elizabeth | Marietta Newborn Photographer

Earlier this week I traveled to Marietta to photograph a brand new baby girl.  Her beautiful Mommy came in last month for her maternity session and now I had the chance to meet her sweet baby.

Miss Elizabeth did not want to go to sleep, she liked staying up and hanging out with us.  I’m telling you, these newborns love partying with me.  She was so alert and was so tiny and cute.  Finally she got tired of us fussing with her and she took a little nap.  I love photographing newborns, its such an amazing time for their families and to see how much they change in the first year is mind boggling.

Thank you to the M family for welcoming me to your home and being so kind, it was so much fun and I can’t wait until our next portrait session!

Her Mommy had this beautiful scarf that she got when she went to Paris, I love the color and it made a perfect wrap for baby E.

One + Twins | Atlanta Twin Photographer

I have so much stuff to share and I know I need to blog when people are emailing me making sure I’m alive.  Very alive and very busy!  Fall is the holiday portrait season rush and not to mention all of these beautiful babies being born in Atlanta, it’s my favorite time of the year.

Also one bit of business – I only have a couple of Los Angeles portrait sessions left for the week of November 10-16 so if you want one, book now!  I am going to be all over LA, quite a busy schedule during my week there!

Today I traveled to Cartersville and met this wonderful family bright and early, these little ones wake up at 6:00am every day (sounds like my two!) so we were outside with the chickens this morning.  They were such troopers because it was super cold outside, but that did not stop us from having fun.  Awesome awesome parents and incredibly cute children, what a wonderful way to start the day!  I think I am becoming the official Atlanta Twin photographer, just call me the twinographer! ;-)   I have so many great clients that all have twins.  Here are a few to share from our morning together:

Hey those pinwheels match my logo!
