My four year old (wait correct that – 4 1/2 year old as she often reminds me) is one of the sassiest little girls on planet earth, she is also one of the funniest too. While she does have her divalicious moments that turn my hair gray much sooner than it should be, she is a sweet caring and snuggly girl. She loves pink & purple, kitty cats and shoes. She would wear nothing but dresses that “spin” if she had her way. She brings such a smile to my face each and every day, I’m truly blessed to be her Mommy. (Now don’t think I’m leaving out my son, he is getting his own blog post next week!)

Recently I worked with a clothing designer to help her with her new Spring/Summer catalog. She had several photographers photograph their daughters in her clothing. When she has the catalog ready I will be sure to share the link, her designs are really cute and fun! So I thought I would share a few of the photos of Morgan. I think that by looking at these you can get a good idea of how sassy she is. I’m quite certain that I could open up the dictionary and see her photo right next to the word sassy. If you want to know what I looked like as a child, just take a look at her, she’s my carbon copy. Of course she’s also been mistaken for Suri Cruise a few times (one time at Disneyland when we still lived in Los Angeles, the person thought I was the nanny and Morgan was Suri). My collage software did a little hand and feet chopping on these, so just ignore that, no feet or hands were harmed in the creation of this collage .

Korean photographer Yeondoo Jung created a brilliant set of photographs called Wonderland back in 2005. The photographs are inspired by drawings from Kindergartners in Seoul Korea. He recruited high school students to help him recreate the drawings in to photographic form. They are creative, beautiful, amazing and inspiring. Be sure to click on his name above and check them out.

My friend Keet is a fantastic children’s artist and I asked her to create a new piece of work for my kids. She just finished the one for my daughter Morgan, and I just had to share it with you. Morgan is in love with Disney Princesses (as most little girls her age) and cats. I asked Keet to create something that combined Snow White and cats. She came up with this super cute combination of Snow White & The Seven Cats. Of course Snow White is my daughter, who also happens to resemble Snow White so it’s a perfect fit. When I showed Morgan she said “I want to do that”, so outside we went with her seven cats and her Snow White costume. Now she’s a feisty one and was already done with the idea within 30 seconds of going outside, so we didn’t really get to recreate the image, but oh well it was fun for the minute that she was willing to participate (hey wasn’t this her idea anyway).

Here’s what Keet created for Morgan:

My shot is not quite as wonderful as Yeondoo’s work, but a mini tribute to him, here is my semi co-operative Morgan aka Snow White with her seven “kitties”.

Hope you are all having a great Labor Day! Don’t forget if you know someone having a baby today email me to win a complimentary portrait session & 11×14 photograph.

This post is long overdue, however we just had our internet service connected today. We arrived on Sunday night so it took us exactly three days to travel from LA to Atlanta. Phew! We had plans to get out and do things and make more stops, but let me tell you, when it’s 125 in Phoenix and 108 in Texas, we just stayed in the car with the a/c cranking! I’m happy to report Little Miss was wonderful, however her brother, oh boy, he was a little challenging, which surprised us because he’s normally the easier of the two.

One night we tried to find a hotel room in Oklahoma and I swear the entire state was booked, we must have stopped at least 12 different times in different cities and there was nothing.

Our stuff doesn’t arrive until Saturday, so this week we’ve been sitting and sleeping on the floor. OUCH my poor back is not a happy camper! This afternoon a storm was rolling through and the power went out, when it came back on the security system went nuts and we couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so we had a visit from some wonderful police officers who came to check up on us. I’m sure the neighbors are already thinking there goes the neighborhood with those crazy California people setting off alarms and causing problems only after a few short days here. I promise we are nice!

Texans are friendly drivers according to their welcome sign… (Oh and I know I am supposed to show a Georgia sign but it was super late when we arrived and I had a severe case of driver’s foot cramp, so I’ll have to take a picture of the Georgia sign some other day!)

It’s true, everything *is* really big in Texas. We saw the 2nd largest cross in the Western Hemisphere. It was HUGE and was right off the interstate.
Interstate 40 follows along historic Route 66

And my regular blog readers know, I love using the fisheye. Spencer & Morgan outside our new home…

and the friendly police officers who came out today when the security system went nuts
(a la point and shoot camera )

Tonight I will be unplugging for a while, we are going on vacation and will be on the Disney Cruise for a week. How in the world will I survive without the internet for a week? My husband thinks I’ll break down and use Disney’s internet at some point to check my email (he totally is on to me!). We are so excited for this vacation, YAY!

This morning I photographed the most BEAUTIFUL children. Oh my goodness, their Mom sent me a photo of them prior to meeting them, but when they stepped out of their car they were even more stunning in person. Thank you to the D family for being so sweet and wonderful, it was awesome to spend the morning with you. I hope the carnival was fun and that you found some good seafood!

See what I mean when I say these kids were gorgeous, good grief how cute are they?

I am in love with K’s hair!

Now you will have to indulge me here for a minute as I share my own two little ones. They wanted to try on their pirate costumes yesterday. One of the nights on the cruise they have a pirate costume party and everyone on board dresses up and they have fireworks in the middle of the ocean. My little one is beyond my mini me, my husband says she is my clone!

I’m cracking up at how my son’s ears are in this shot, he kept taking his hat off and putting it back on so his ears ended up getting a little squished!

Ok all of you out there in blog land be good and I will see you next week!

My kids love pancakes, in fact they would eat breakfast for dinner every night if they could. So sometimes we will go to have pancakes on Thursday nights (because well kids get free pancakes on Thursday night, score!). We always seem to go around the same time and it’s the same waitress who serves us so I guess my kids are the regulars.

There is always a man who is there washing the windows. He’s an Australian man (as he has told my son many times before) and he always has on his little portable old school radio with giant headphones. While he is cleaning the windows outside he will have his radio on and he always has a cigarette hanging from his mouth. Every time we see him my 6 year old son tells me that cigarettes are not good for you and they can ruin your life and it kills your lungs. They learned about saying no to cigarettes and drugs at school and my father passed away a few years ago – he had emphysema from smoking since he was a teenager, so when my son asks about him we tell him that it’s not a good thing to do.

My daughter copies her brother in everything he says and does and today, oh boy she decided to go big. The window washer came inside and he said hello to the kids like he always does and my little one decided it was time to inform him how bad his smoking habit was. She put down her fork and looked up at him with her big blue eyes and said:

YOU SHOULD NOT DO DRUGS, CIGARETTES ARE DRUGS…GUY…. AND IF YOU DO DRUGS YOU WILL HAVE NO LIFE…MAN…..

She was very matter of fact in her own almost four year old way. The gentleman being ever so polite and kind responded to her and said that she was right and that it’s a very bad habit and that he hopes she will never ever smoke. When he was done speaking she looked at him and said, you should have a lollipop instead and she handed him her tootsie roll pop that she got from the delivery from my photo lab today. (they always put one in the box with every order that I get)

This little sassy girl of mine, while overly outspoken is already wise beyond her years and I am proud to be her mom.

So remember….as my almost four year old says…. You shouldn’t do drugs…guy.

I think my son has *the* best hair ever. We get stopped every where we go, everyone loves his hair. One time my husband took him to get it cut and they came home and it was all gone, he was so sad, he loves his curls and so do I. We were outside just a little while ago and the kids were playing in the sprinklers so I snapped a few of him. My sweet baby boy, and yes he is still my baby and always will be no matter how old he is.
