A New Drug

We photographers are interesting creatures.  We get excited over broken down old rusty cars, buildings that are falling apart with cracked paint, old ratty chairs – all of which make for the most amazing backgrounds, props and unique things to use during portrait sessions.  Many of us also have a serious addiction for blankets.  We call each other when we find a new fantastic, amazing, oh my goodness this would so be rockin’ for a photo type of blanket.  We email each other asking where to get them, how much and if we can’t find it will you pick one up for me.  Oh dear, it truly *is* like a drug.  I think I’m up to 2,456,746 blankets, oh wait, I see another one peeking out from the plastic storage bins that I keep them in, ok so 2,456,747 blankets.  As I was putting some of them away today I snapped a few photos and made this funky collage of some of the blankets I have.  I guess it’s a good thing I have this blanket collection, it sure is cold here in Atlanta right now!

Celebrating 50 years and something that took almost 50 years

No no it’s not what you are thinking, I’m not celebrating my 50th birthday (I’m still in my 30′s thank you very much ;-) ).  One of my wonderful client couples is celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss.  I recently joined them at The Mansion Hotel here in Buckhead, in the heart of Atlanta to photograph them on their very special day.  They emailed me this morning and are currently vacationing and having a wonderful time in London, England – which by the way I’m jealous that they are there and I’m here in 17 degree weather, it’s so very cold here for me and my California blood.  I had to actually go out and buy a coat and I had to put away my flip flops.  Oh dear…

The something that feels like it took 50 years is my brand new blog design.  Woohoo!  Believe me when I tell you that it took about that long.  I get in to arguments with myself, I change my mind, I get on my own nerves, it is not an easy process.  Those of you who read my blog via RSS or Google reader be sure and stop in and check out the new look!  There are still a few things I need to tweak and add, but for the most part it is good to go!  Leave a note in the comment box and let me know what you think.

So, back to the wonderful couple celebrating 50 fantastic years, Happy Anniversary, here’s to many more wonderful years to come!  How about another 50?

lisa - January 19, 2009 - 12:24 am

Love the design- so cute and fresh! And no way have they been married 50 years, they don’t look a day over 50. What a lovely family they have.

Danna - January 19, 2009 - 7:03 am

missy - January 19, 2009 - 9:15 am

Hi Angela, I am a long time reader of your blog and wanted to give the input you ask for. I think it looks so amazing! Who did you have design it? My only suggestion is that when I first come to the blog, it takes a while for the pictures on the top bar to load and feels a little empty until they do. It could just be that my connection isn’t very fast too. I don’t know how easy this would be, but I wonder if you would like it better if they all came up at once (all three) and then the pictures just rotated through like you have them doing anyway. Really cool little slideshows, by the way!

Shellie - January 19, 2009 - 5:34 pm

What an awesome family photo on the stairs!

PamN - January 20, 2009 - 8:36 am

Expecting Axyl | Acworth Maternity Photographer

I have not blogged in a while and I’ll confess to being totally lazy and not feeling like I have anything to say!  Oh boy, that’s a first right?

A few weeks ago I photographed this *gorgeous* mommy to be.  She is probably one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, just so happy, positive and so excited about being a Mom for the first time.  She sent me a email today and her Dr. is thinking that this weekend her little guy will make his grand entrance in to the world.  They have chosen the name Axyl, isn’t that a cool name?  She told me they are really in to rock and roll and love to have fun and felt that this name was perfect for their son.  I can’t wait to hear that he is finally here and I’m so excited to meet him!

Here are a few photos to share and of course the newborn images will be coming soon!  We used the red background a lot because it’s her husband’s favorite color and I just love how beautiful it looks.
