It’s that time of year. I avoid them as much as I can, but this year, they are resorting to methods that you cannot get away from. Who am I talking about? GIRL SCOUTS! Now I have nothing against Girl Scouts, I was a Brownie and then a Junior Scout back in the day - woohoo go Troop 848 Cumberland Valley Council, Nashville, TN. But you know what it is, those darn cookies. I swear they put something highly addictive in them, and they call my name when I see the boxes. I can run but I cannot hide, they taunt me with “we’re only here once a year Angela, come on you know you want to buy some.” I even sold the most boxes one year for my troop, so yes I am a reformed cookie pimp. I know all their tactics, smile sweetly and tell people how it helps you go to camp.
Just who are these “Little Brownie Bakers” and what goes in to these cookies? I swear they are evil in a box with photos to distract you. Sure Vons & Ralph’s grocery stores carry generic versions of them year round for a few bucks cheaper, but it’s just not the same thing. Nothing compares to the real deal of Tagalongs & Thin Mints. I bet right now some of you have Thin Mints in your freezer, because that truly is the best way to eat them, when they are super cold with a big glass of milk. Tagalongs combine peanut butter and chocolate, come on, does it get any better than that?
So I thought I had successfully avoided the cookies this year, ha ha yep you aren’t going to get this sucker. Yeah, well not so fast. Friday I had to go to the ATM to make some business deposits and what do I see… what is that? A pack of Girl Scouts with a table set up next to the ATM selling Girl Scout Cookies. Man, why didn’t we think of that when I was selling them 200 years ago….oh wait, I don’t think we had ATM’s back then, were there ATM’s in 1980? So of course you can’t say, sorry I don’t have any cash, because well the cash is just a few pin numbers away. Darn it and then I thought, well maybe they will be out of Tagalongs and Thin Mints and the others, well I could care less, but nope, they had just opened a fresh cash. So before I knew what was happening I was buying a box of each. Samoa’s are good too but I was a good girl and didn’t get those.
All I’m saying is no one can eat just one. Girl Scout Cookies are meant to be eaten in pairs, or maybe three’s and sometimes fours if no one is watching.

OH! Those are my FAVORITE two types of GS cookies! Hubby came home with a few boxes of TM and needless to say they are nearly gone. “little boxes of evil” LMAO.
Add me to the list, I bought 5 boxes of thin mints and they are in spare freezer in the garage, I’m hoping they last a while.
I bought 4 boxes of thin mints and have already eaten 2!! You’re right…. outta the freezer!! Yum! But…. I HAVE TO BE IN A BATHING SUIT IN ONE WEEK, so what the HECK am I doin’?? Yikes!
HAHA!! The Samoas are my weakness.
Someone was selling them at my GYM the other day! Can you imagine!?
Sing it, sister! Though I’m a Thin Mint and Samoa girl. Love the “little boxes of evil”
So are they Samoa’s again. I hated when they changed the name to caramel delights. Made it seem even more evil. Samoa’s sound much healthier!
or…a you could eat an entire box of them after a really bad day. (did I just say that outloud)
*sigh* So I read your post this morning and I go to Target and ‘lo and behold there they are! So yes of course I had to buy a couple boxes. And yes a box of thin mints is in my freezer right now. Evil evil things!
OMG they are my weakness forsure, Back about a month ago I was begging for some girl scout cookies and then the other night my hubby comes in with a boxes of them, boy did I have a field day with them!
Girl Scout Cookies are named differently depending on what area of the country you live in and what bakery your local GS Council uses.
There cannot be a monopoly on GS Cookies, so there is 2 different bakers (ABC and Little Brownie Bakers).
ABC has Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Caramel Delight, Lemonades, Thanks-a-Lots, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Cinnaspins and Thin Mints.
The Little Brownie Bakery makes the Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-Dos, Lemon Chalets etc…
Same basic cookie. Different bakeries. Different names. Same yumminess. Same calories.
I’m a GS Leader and our troop has sold over 5000 boxes of those little boxes of evil this year already!
oh no WAY!!! That is brillant! haha
