The Cut

Last night I asked my husband, where is Morgan?  She’s in her room playing with her dollhouse.  Nope, she was doing something else.  She had climbed up to the cabinet with her school scissors and got them down, went and hid behind the treadmill and decided she was Paul Mitchell or Jose Eber and went to town on her hair.  The photo below does not begin to show how bad it is, under the parts that are still long she cut it short underneath.  I seriously cried when I saw what she had done.  Her hair had finally grown out of the two year old mullet phase and was now long and beautiful.  Until last night.  She cut it sooo short in the back that we only had a few choices of what to do with the rest of her hair.  So we opted for the short in the back and a little longer in the front.  I wanted to keep it a little longer than we ended up with but her hair is so fine and thin underneath in the spots she cut that we had to change our plans.

Am I weird that I cried?  I totally did like a big baby, I know it’s not the end of the world, but it sure was frustrating.

Here’s the photo of the back of her hair, just know it was way worse if you lifted up the long pieces to see how short she cut the underside.

I took my trustly little point and shoot camera with us to grab a shot of the cut.

And the end result

And a little something just for fun…I call this Move Over Katie & Suri. ;-)

Nikki - She looks adorable with her new cut! The first picture is a bit heart breaking though.

Beth - Awww, she looks cute! I cried when my daughter cut her hair off, too, so don't feel bad. You're lucky your daughter cut it in the back, and it was fixable. That's a really cute, trendy cut on her. My daughter lifted up pieces of her bangs and snipped them almost to her scalp! The front part of her hair, framing her face, had just gotten long enough to match the back and reach back into a long ponytail (she's 3.5). It took 6 weeks for her bangs to grow out and approach looking normal again. The sides have a looong way to go, so we use a lot of clippies, and have some seriously crazy looking braids.

Pammy - She is the most adorable thing. I love her new do. Sorry she had to get a new do--but it's darn cute and she's a spitfire. Tell her Pay-um says hi.

Lisa - She is so cute! And I LOVE the new cut - so spunky and adorable!

Shari - I think she looks absolutely ADORABLE with her new cut!! I LOVE the place where she gets her haircut too. I wish we had something like that around here! How FUN!

Season Moore - LOVE the new cut though, Livvy's is like that minus the bangs! I remember doing that as a kid...

Jayme Tighe - I think the new do is GREAT! She looks spunky! :)

Meggan - I told you it would look adorable! :) I LOVE it! :)

Dawn - Totally adorable. She IS Katie Holmes/Cruise (whatever!).

Corey - Aaawww! {{{hugs}}} It's not that bad, could have been worse, but I would have cried, too! ;) I love her new do, though! It looks absolutely adorable on her!

Theresa - Awww....Suri's all grown up! :-D

Lisa Z - OMG! I can't believe she cut off that much. I think she knew exactly what she was doing because the end result is too cute for words.

marla - The cut is adorable!! And by the way, I am still craving girl scout cookies thanks to you.

Reb - Oh look! The tragic story has a happy ending ... she looks adorable with her new cut. Yay!

Jen Lane - omgoodness Morgan!!! What a total stinker. Don't you love it when they hide to commit their crimes, lol?!! Oy. On a positive note though, that new cut is SO her! SASSY! I love it. And I'm not just saying that b/c I have the same haircut, lol! She is such a doll. And Suri just doesn't have anything on her, lol.

Dennis - I think it turned out great! Isn't cutting your own hair a stepping stone is growing up? BTW...that hair salon is super cool!

Family of Three

Today I traveled to Beverly Hills to photograph a 8 month old cutie and his beautiful parents. He just recently learned how to sit up so he was so happy and ready for fun. I’ll be seeing him next month for part two of our photo session and he’s such a smart cookie I bet he’ll suprise me and be crawling by then! They were such a sweet family and take a look at how stunning they are, they made my job super easy. Thank you to the wonderful B family for welcoming me to your home and being so kind. I will see you next month!

I’m short on words tonight because my three year old decided to climb and get her craft scissors and cut her own hair. Oh boy there were tears (from me! ). I’ll share photos of that tomorrow.

Here are a few photos from our session this morning…

A day with the dogs

Today we went to Long Beach to Justin Rudd’s Haute Dog Easter Parade. He always has one on Easter and one right before Halloween, it is so much fun and my kids always have a blast. Some of the costume ideas that people come up with are so creative and interesting. Here are a few photos to share and check out my slideshow for even more!

PS – If you see your dog in the slideshow email me and let me know and I’ll be glad to send you the high res file so you can print it! My gift to you for making my kids smile by seeing your wonderful K9 friends!

X-Man

Today I traveled to Santa Monica to photograph the cutest one year old little boy.  His Mom & Dad call him X-Man because his first name starts with a X.  Let me tell you, this little guy is a big flirt!  When I came in to his home he was flashing that smile at me and showing off.  What a fun little guy he was.  His parents told me that he likes to eat, is always happy, doesn’t like to sleep and is very determined.  He would some times give us a little feisty look and it was so funny and cute.  As the Mom of a feisty little girl it made me like him even more.  He was so easy going though and he just started to walk!  Tomorrow he is going to by partying down with all of his friends for his birthday party and Monday he officially turns the big ONE.

Thank you to Mr. X’s parents, they were so sweet and nice and we had a lot of fun.  They were wonderful troopers and we were able to get a lot of great shots today.  PS – If you guys ever get tired of those fabulous blue chairs in your living room, give me a call!

Here are a few photos from our afternoon together.

For this one I used one of those awesome blue chairs and see I told you he’s a little flirt!

He’s loves to ride his bike

His shirt in this shot cracked me up, it says i love milk!

Clark - What a dashing little guy. I am the luckiest daddy to have this charming boy in my life. Signed, X-Man's DAD

Teya - Love the bike one! I bet it would look great in a playroom!

Evening Princess

On the way home from preschool this evening my daughter told me that she wanted to be a princess when we got home. As we walked through the door she ran to her room and picked out a dress, it was her Easter dress from last year and it still fits! Of course every princess needs a crown and necklaces too. I was able to snap a few photos before she told me to put my camera away.  She had her class photos taken recently and she told me that they told her to always say cheese for pictures.  Oh boy, that’s the opposite of what I tell children, so now she always says cheese anytime I have the camera out.  Gotta work on getting that out of her mind!

Deanna - Oh my gosh, she just becomes more and more beautiful if that's possible. I have to sneak pics of Gabby now too for the same reason, cheeeeeeeese!

Jennie - Ah, yes...the 'cheese'. I hear them ask the kids that when I take them to their photos at school. Sometimes they get creative and tell them to say "cheese, please!" Yuck. I wonder if they know the damage they are doing to millions of photos for the next 6 years or so!

TonyaMarie - What a pretty princess. I especially love the color in the first. The new blog background is fun too!

Jasmine Marie - A beautiful princess indeed!

Nicole - I love your photography, such great ideas! I have a three year old of my own and I'm always trying to get him to say something, I'm just wondering what you DO recommend they say? Thanks for sharing!
