Love at first click… : Nikon D3

Excuse me for the nerdy camera geek post which is to follow….. you’ve been warned!

I was lucky enough to be in the first group at my local camera shop to get one of the AMAZING new Nikon D3’s that came out a couple of weeks ago. Oh. My. Goodness. I don’t live that far from the Nikon headquarters so I’ve been considering driving over there and bowing down and telling them I’m not worthy. All I can say is WOW. It is one fantastic camera, but at the same time I have to say, it’s about time they gave us a full frame camera!

The first three shots below are SOTC/SOOC with only resizing and sharpen for web. I’m beginning to think I should send a love letter to Nikon. For the photographers who read my blog and are on the fence and thinking of taking the plunge, it truly is all that and then some.

Oh and the willing subject as my regular blog readers will know is my little sweetheart 6 year old.

I used the 85 1.8 on these.

and of course my little one thinks she’s Tyra Banks and needs to strike a pose every time she sees the camera…

Jasmin - CUTE!!! Been thinking about taking the D3 plunge myself. Sounds like Nikon finally hit the jackpot with this camera. Thanks for the input!

Laura Ping - Merry Christmas! Gorgeous shots - of course. If I knew how to use my camera, and thought I had any potential as a photographer - I would offer you $$$ for your old camera ;) My New Year's resolution is to become friends with my camera and know what ISO and aperture mean. Duh! I hope Santa is good to you - although who could want with a D3 in hand! I would like just a little of that thick curly hair on your son's head - which would mean Santa will be brining me product and a perm. lol.

Jayme Tighe - Congrats on your new camera!!! You must be in heaven!

ashley mcnamara - Soooo cute!!! Love all of them. :)

Dhana - Wow...those are gorgeous shots and the kiddos are super cute as well. I've seen some amazing things with this camera in re. to iso 2000 & up. You're going to have so much fun! Congrats!

Helen - Wow, the clarity in the photo's is amazing... cute subjects too! Congrat's on your new purchase... Love your work!

Last but not least…

Today I photographed my last two little clients for 2007. It’s been a wonderful, amazing, inspiring, absolutely awesome year. I can’t wait to see what 2008 has in store. Be sure to stop back by in a couple of days for my end of the year slideshow!

This morning I went to Montebello to photograph a sweet brand new baby girl. Now this little one is already one smart cookie. She knew that Santa was coming soon and she did not want to miss out on all those Christmas presents so she decided to arrive three weeks early. Her beautiful Mommy is in Grad school and it was the day of her final exam. That final would have to be postponed because little Miss Elina had other plans for her Mommy! By the time she arrived at the hospital she was 7cm dilated and her precious baby girl arrived a few hours later.

Here are a couple of photos from our morning together, she was so sweet and when she went to sleep she was so quiet and peaceful. Although her Dad told me that last night was a No So Silent Night ;) and she was up most of the night. Meet beautiful baby girl Elina…

This afternoon my little client came all the way from Indiana! I think she looks just like Dakota Fanning, don’t you? She reminded me so much of my little one, they are only two months apart too. Her mom had so many beautiful dresses for her so we made lots of wardrobe changes, that’s one of my favorite things to do! She was so cute and fun and she really loved to dance! She’s excited that Santa is coming soon. She had these amazing beautiful blue eyes that just sparkled when she smiled. Here are a couple to share from our time together this afternoon…

She looks like such a pretty princess here

MsB - I love your newborn shots, Angela! This little girl looks so precious! BTW, what lens do you prefer when shooting newborns? May I assume these shots were taken with an 85mm f/1.8? I need to get this on my Christmas list, too -- is it too late??? =/

Meggan - Beautiful portraits Angela! What a sweet baby and I agree - that little girl does look a lot like D.F.

Sonya - Oh wow! My babygirl looks so peaceful in these pics..........you couldn't even tell that she was initially crying and was so fussy during the photo session. Thank you for the beautiful pictures:)

Megan - Angela, The pictures of Lillian are both gorgeous!!! I have shown everyone at work and I hope they call you for appointments! I am so glad I found you and so glad you came. You truly have a gift for photography. Your photos are a treasure to us! Thanks. Megan

Jason - Hi Angela, Thank you so much for photographing Lillian for us. Seeing the slideshow made us so happy. Thank you again, Jason, Megan, & Lilly.

The Photographer’s Child…

My clients are always commenting to me and saying that I must have tons of beautiful images of my own children. HA! My kids take off running the minute I bring out the camera and now I have proof to show you what happens.

This little video clip is from Disneyland the other day, now I was only carrying my tiny point and shoot camera so you can imagine how bad it is when I break out the DSLRs.

My poor poor tortured child and OMG my voice sounds not like it does in my head.  Icck! LOL

Dawn M - wow, your voice didn't sound like it sounds in MY head either. LOL. She is so cute and this made me LAUGH -- my kids are, of course, the same way!!

heather morrow - That is the cutest, sweetest, funniest thing EVER! Lucee always says, "STOP THE CWAMWAHS, MOM!"

Brandy Anderson - That was so perfect. I routinely feel your pain.

Melissa Rodriguez - This is hilarious! I can SO relate...

Michelle Haley - That poor child....what a HOOT, though. She can't even catch a break at Disney!

Shawna Allen - Oh that is hilarious! I pretty much get the same thing...

Jennifer - HAHAHA! So true thats all I ever get from my kids as well! Too funny too!

Gretchen - Oh my gosh, I have the giggles now! Too cute! And yeah, I get the same thing from mine. And when people we don't know (read: potential clients!!) see my camera while we are out and about, my 8 year old just whines about how I am ALWAYS taking pictures. . . yipes.

Jodie Otte - This is toooooo funny!!!! OMG! I'm laughing my butt off - such a photog's child!

Anita - It is 12:18 in the morning and I am laughing out loud! Priceless. Wait a minute!!!! My little guy just turned 1...and he LOVES my camera...hams it up the moment I bring it out. Is this the doom that awaits me? No! It can't be true.

Melissa E Earle - It is super hard for mee too, that is why I finally got around to doing it and posting some of them on my blog! lol Cheerio -Melissa E Earle

Just in time…

This morning I went to Glendale to photograph a brand new baby girl and her brother. Santa made a special early delivery (ok it was her Mom who delivered, not Santa ;-) ) and brought this beautiful baby girl in time for Christmas! What a special time for her family to have a new baby for the holidays. She was so sweet and her brother was one cool dude!

I’m such a bad blogger here lately but all of my wonderful clients have kept me busy so blogging takes a back seat so that I can get everyone’s holiday orders taken care of and portraits taken.

Thank you to baby Sophia’s wonderful family who was so kind and welcoming to me this morning. A special thanks to her Dad for bringing me the yummy Hot Chocolate, on a cold cold morning like it was it sure hit the spot. Here are just a few photos from our time together. PS – Sophia’s Mommy – check your email there is a special surprise waiting for you!

and this one, we had just put her down and we didn’t want to take the blanket off right away, she was sleeping so peaceful that I had to take a snap of it, messy blanket and all I love it…

and this next one… this is what I’m about to do, go to sleep!

Melanie - oh my those are adorable, esp love that last one, sleeping in heavenly peace!

Santa, A Haircut, A Parade and A Harley…

On top of all my lovely client work this weekend my two little ones kept me busy! Saturday night we paid a visit to Santa. Of course you know I had to take a photo and share. In order to take my own photos I had to buy one of theirs first, which I gladly did because I like taking my own! Right after we saw santa my little one got her very first haircut! She was sporting a Donald Trump comb over and the stylist suggested bangs so that we could get a normal part going on instead of the part on the side of her head. At first I wasn’t sure about cutting bangs for her, but boy did it make her blue eyes stand out. Ahh my sweet baby girl looks so grown up. Then today, ok wait it’s Monday now, ok so yesterday afternoon we went to the San Pedro Christmas Parade. I took my camera but I didn’t take a lot of photos of the parade, I was trying to get some shots of my kids while they were in a cooperative mood.

So here goes a bunch of stuff to share, let the holiday season begin!

Hanging out with Santa…

Watching the Christmas Parade (and check out those super cute bangs she has now, I love the cut!). My Grandma reads my blog and I know she is going to call me and tell me that Morgan looks exactly like I did when I was little and yep she’s right. That’s my little mini me! Check out the grip she has on the candy that the firemen gave her, don’t even think about taking her candy away!

Being silly…..

My kids thought this was so funny to see this big camel walking down the street in the parade…

I loved how this car was wrapped, the bright colors were awesome, I need to be driving that!

And I’m exposing a big secret……do you want to know what Santa’s sleigh really looks like!? Shh…. don’t tell anyone…
Santa drives a Harley!
