Welcome to Hollywood…what’s your dream?

“Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream? Everybody comes here. This is Hollywood, land of dreams. Some dreams come true, some don’t, but keep on dreamin’. This is Hollywood. Always time to dream, so keep on dreamin’.”

$10 in itunes if you know what movie that quote is from (first person to correctly answer wins). Don’t cheat and Google for the answer! ;-) email me with your answer!

EDITED TO ADD: Blog reader Debbie was the first to email me 7 minutes after I posted this. Wow you all are fast! Congrats to Debbie and thank you to everyone who played. Blog reader Heather was so close! Keep on trying, I’ll do this again!

It was only fitting that my little client this morning has one of the most famous signs in history overlooking her home. Her Mom told me that when she grows up she says she wants to be an actress, and when I met her she told me exactly the same. She has *it*. When I say that I mean charisma, a sweet little firecracker personality and she truly was a little performer. She loved to dance around and put on little shows. When I was going over the photos to show a few here in this post I was smiling the entire time. I loved her inquisitive nature and the sweet little way she would ask why about everything I would say.

Her Mom told me that she would be shy at first, but not today, we were instant friends! I had a great time! To Miss A’s parents: thank you so much, you were so helpful and welcoming to me and made me feel so at home.

I got a cool shot of the Hollywood sign

And a couple of sneak peeks for her Mom and Dad. Those ringlet curls and blue eyes were gorgeous. Her smile could light up a room.

LOST

I know most of you are probably thinking I’m talking about the tv show, but nope, that’s not what this post is about. While we are on the subject, Lost is one of my favorite shows. We have to wait all the way until January for a new episode.

Ok back on track…

Tonight my 5 year old lost his first tooth! It’s been loose for a while and I thought he might lose it in Hawaii but it held on for him to put it under his own pillow tonight. We put it in a ziplock bag and it’s now safe under his pillow waiting for the tooth fairy. ;-)

Here he is with his new smile and his missing tooth.

Raindrops on roses & whiskers on kittens…

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens… brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things.

Sorry I had that song in my head and now you have to have it in yours!

I often get emails asking what some of my favorite blogs and websites are so I thought I would devote a post to that!

One of my absolute most favorite blogs EVER is Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  Oh my goodness she makes me laugh.  She’s a city girl who married a hottie farmer that she calls Marlboro Man and now lives with him and their four children on their farm.  She talks about her daily life and I think she has to be one of the funniest writers on the planet.  Yesterday she had a post about the process of giving the cows on their farm pregnancy tests.  I was laughing through the entire post, the commentary with the photos was a riot.  If you visit her blog (which you simply must do), be sure and have plenty of time on your hands because it’s addicting.  She also has another blog that is all about her recipes and she includes photos so you know exactly how she does it.  Ree also happens to be a fantastic photographer.  If she ever comes back to Los Angeles for a visit, I want to take her out for a drink!  She’s my kind of people!  You can find her here: http://www.thepioneerwoman.com and for her recipes you can find them here: http://www.thepioneerwomancooks.com/

A site that I visited for the first time today that I enjoyed was: http://www.iwanexstudio.com/ , click on portfolio and then click the thumbnails, when you put your mouse over the photo it is the unedited version, and they are all celebrity photos.  It’s amazing how different some of the celebrities look before they are edited.

Of course I’ll confess to reading the celebrity gossip blog sites - www.perezhilton.com and www.dlisted.com

It takes no time at all to go through blogs if you use Google Reader.  Instead of visiting every site you put all the blogs you like in to a list and it tells you which ones have new content, so it only takes about 5-10 minutes a day to get through them.  Be sure to add my blog when you set up your free account ;-) http://www.google.com/reader

I don’t remember if I blogged this or not but I broke down and bought a iphone a week before my vacation.  It really came in handy and I’m in love with it.  So much for me saying I was going to wait a while.  Anyway, there is a blog that has a iphone tip of the day and it’s pretty cool some of the stuff he has talked about so far.  http://tips4iphone.blogspot.com

Of course I cannot leave out the mothership listing of blogs and my blog also happens to be one of the blogs listed on the site (YAY), http://www.delightfulblogs.com . There are blogs listed there for just about every subject you can think of.  I bet you will find a lot of new favorites there.

I have a many more blogs to share but I’ll save those for later!  I’ve given you enough to keep ya busy for a while! ENJOY!

Ohhh it’s almost time…

First things first.  Gotta get the business stuff out of the way - LAST CALL for fall sessions at current pricing.  All sessions booked by Friday will be subject to current pricing.  All sessions booked after Friday will be under the new pricing.

Ok now the fun stuff!

(mention of sports ahead, ladies don’t check out just yet, there is a hottie alert at the end of the sports ramble)

It’s that time of year, I can smell it in the air, popcorn, tailgating, cheers, people sitting on the edge of their seats (ok well I hope I can’t smell that part ;) ).  It’s time for college football.  I’m from the south, and as anyone from the south knows - College football *is* a religion.  I’m sure your next question (since I’m in Los Angeles) is… well…. are you a USC or a UCLA.  PUHLEASE!  My blood runs orange for my University of Tennessee Volunteers.  As I’m typing this I can just see my Grandma rolling her eyes at me and shaking her head.  She reads my blog so I know it will happen.  She’s a diehard Vanderbilt fan and the color orange is just not acceptable in her world.  Oh how I love my Vols.  Normally I would talk some serious smack about how they are going to dominate, but this year to do so would be foolish as word through the grapevine is that it’s not looking too good, I don’t even think they are ranked (don’t quote me on that, I need to check).  Oh well, I’m still with them all the way.

When I first moved to Los Angeles, the VOLS came out and played UCLA.  I made my husband go with me to the game.  He’s a hard core UCLA guy, so imagine the torture it was for him that not only did he have to go, but I got my tickets from the UT Alumni office and we were in the UT section at the Rose  Bowl in Pasadena.  So you see this sea of orange and then wait, what’s that blue speck sitting in the middle, yeah that was my husband.  It looked like a UT home game with all that orange, Vols fans are notorious for packing the house at away games.  Guess what?  We won.  Peyton Manning did not let me down.  It was an awesome day and yes I still give my husband grief over it to this day.

Then in 1998 they won the Fiesta Bowl and became the national champions, beating Florida State and I was so obnoxious I got one of those car window flags and put it on my car when I was driving around town.  Wow, that was almost 10 years ago.  Come on Vols, surprise me and do it again!

I just read on ESPN.com that Vanderbilt is actually supposed to be good this year.  That should make my Grandma smile.

Here is this year’s  UT schedule, hopefully there will be some W’s by the dates and no L’s.  (for all you non-football nuts that’s wins & losses).

They have to play in the swamp this year against Florida, icck not good.  They are playing South Carolina at home though, and any day they beat a Steve Spurrier team I’ll be happy.  Come on guys, I’m counting on you!

Now I have to confess that another one of my favorite things about College Football Season is my tv football boyfriend Kirk Herbstreit.  He’s one of the ESPN College Gameday guys who calls a lot of the games as well.  My husband knows all about my tv boyfriend Kirk, hey what’s wrong with a little eye candy for the ladies who watch football?  Nothing! ;)

Precious

I am officially declaring this as baby girl season! Last fall I had a long run of baby boy clients and this summer I am seeing lots and lots of sweet baby girls!

This morning I met beautiful baby girl Jordyn. What a sweetheart to photograph after my vacation. She’s one lucky girl, she has a big family and lots of friends who are so in love with her and I got a chance to meet some of them today. They were such a nice family.

This afternoon I met beautiful baby Avarie. Just like Jordyn, she was a total little sweetheart and my favorite thing was the funny little faces she would make when she was being burped. Her eyes were wide open and she was so alert. It was really sweet how her Mom & Dad were with her so patient and caring, she’s another lucky baby girl. I think she is a carbon copy of her Daddy, she looks just like him.

Thank you to both families for welcoming me in to your homes! I had a wonderful time meeting you and your baby girls.
