Flashback Friday 7/20/07 + Happy Birthday

My sweet baby girl is 3 today!  Happy Birthday Morgan!  I’ll have photos later on in the weekend to share (hopefully if she cooperates) but for now I’ll share one my husband took just minutes after she was born.  She looks like a little onion :-)

I’m officially on vacation, well sort of.  I’m taking a few weeks off from shooting clients and I’m going to enjoy the summer with my family.  Next weekend I’m heading to North Carolina to spend a few days with some amazing photographers for a workshop and meeting some friends in person that I’ve met through a photography forum, I’m so excited.  Then I’m coming back and we are headed to Hawaii for a week.  I’ll still be checking in, orders will still be shipped out in the next week and emails will be returned.

*Just a note – I only have a couple of spots left for August.  September spots are going fast and now is the time to get in before the mad rush for everyone wanting their photos for Christmas & Hanukkah cards.  New pricing will be going in to effect so be sure and book before August 1 to lock in current pricing.*

Ok so for Flashback Friday I’m showing you the video to one of my daughter’s favorite songs.  She likes this song because my husband play’s it for her when he has his ipod in the car.

The Buggles – Video killed the radio star

World Exclusive Interview

You won’t find this interview on TMZ.com, Entertainment Tonight won’t have it, yes this interview is sooo exclusive and this is the only place you’ll find it.

I have secured the rights to interview the cover boy for today’s Daily Breeze Newspaper Local section.

Ok ok it’s my son Spencer. I sat down with him for the exclusive interview, here’s the transcript:

Angela: So Spencer I hear that you are on the front page of the Local News Section of the newspaper today

Spencer: Mommy I’m hungry

Angela : What were you doing when you heard the news

Spencer: Eating cereal with Grandma

Angela: How does it make you feel to see your photo in the newspaper?

Spencer: It’s exciting

Angela: Who told you the good news?

Spencer: My Aunt Bonnie called my Grandma and told her

Angela: Has anyone recognized you yet?

Spencer: Everyone at my Grandma’s apartment building told me that I am famous. I want everyone to ask me for autographs…..all around the world they are going to be coming.

Angela: What’s next for you Spencer?

Spencer: I want to go to Disneyland, but I don’t want to ride the Pirates of the Carribean because I don’t like the waterfall. I want to get Mickey Mouse lollipops.

Angela: What do you wanna be when you grow up?

Spencer: I want to be Batman

Angela: Why do you want to be Batman?

Spencer: Because he’s a hero

Angela: Thank you for granting me this interview Spencer, do you have any closing thoughts?

Spencer: Mommy can I have pizza for dinner since I’m famous?

Here is Spencer holding the newspaper and a closeup of the photo. He’s walking with his Grandma to the bank.

Summer is here, time for popsicles, swimming pools, the beach and bicycles. What makes that even better? Being able to ride your bike with your favorite pajamas and boots on without a care in the world. Check out my little pal Jacob who just learned how to ride his tricycle yesterday and I was able to capture it with my camera. How cute are those PJ’s he’s wearing? I think his mom told me that these boots are his sisters, but who cares, they match the bike and the PJ’s, he’s one hip little dude.

Flashback Friday The 13th

I promised Hall & Oates so I have to deliver.  Those dudes knew how to rock a mullet, although I think Oates was sporting a Curlet because his hair was curly.

In honor of Friday the 13th, here’s Thriller.  I remember when this video came out I was in 3rd grade and my friend’s mom rented the making of Thriller for a slumber party.  We watched it a million times that night.  That was before Michael Jackson was all weird and he still looked like himself, oh boy I used to love him when I was little.  There is also a pretty funny remake of the video using Lego people and it’s a shot by shot remake of the original, it must have taken the person who made it a long long time, he used the same technique that they do with claymation where you move it a little get the shot, move it, shoot again, over and over.

Jennie - Love the Thriller video! I too was MJ crazy at that age. I even wore a "I love Michael" pin around and sported the glitter glove...in public! Yikes!

dante - kudos for rocking john and darryl. i wanted to go see them when they will be in la, but i can't afford to rent a car to drive down for the show, and there is no way my car is making it to the end of the block let alone halfway across california. oh well. i guess i gotta wait until they hit the road again...

Is it really that terrible?

Next week my sweet baby girl will be turning three.  Yes I said baby, she is and always will be my baby girl.  How is it possible that this little person has only been with us for three years when it feels like she’s been a part of our lives forever.

I’ll go ahead and confess that she’s feisty and with that I’ll also tell you that it’s quite the understatement.  Yes she throws tantrums, yes she screams and cries and yes she has had a bout of the terrible twos.

But….. I started thinking about the phrase “terrible twos” and decided that it’s not really applicable.  Putting the tantrums and outbursts aside I suddenly had flashbacks of her past year.

Is it terrible for someone to come up and hug you and say “I wub you Mama”?

Is it terrible for someone to tell you that you are her best friend? (ok she got that line from Charlie & The Chocolate Factory – her favorite movie, but it’s still sweet)

Is it terrible for someone to laugh and giggle without a care in the world?

Is it terrible for someone to get so excited about learning new things and wanting you to share in that joy?

Is it terrible for someone to come running to you smiling with open arms when she sees you after only a few hours away from each other?

Is it terrible to hear a little voice behind you in the car singing the ABC’s?

Is it terrible to hear a sweet little story about the wonderful “shockolate” cupcake she had at a friend’s birthday party at school?

Is it terrible to have to dance around the room while holding her in your arms while she giggles and sings?

Is it terrible to see the love that she has for her brother and other friends and how she just wants to be with people?

When I add all of these things up it makes me realize that the “terrible twos” really don’t exist.  There is nothing terrible about this precious little gift of mine who makes my heart skip a beat when I see her smiling face, when she tells me that she loves me and shows me how independent she has become by dressing herself and constantly repeating “I do it Mama, watch me”.  She is a dream come true.  So you’ll have to excuse me as many of my posts over the next week will be about her and celebrating her last week of two.

This afternoon after preschool we came home and played outside for a while.  We were waiting for my husband and son to come home from karate so I snapped a couple of very quick shots of her.  She usually runs the other way when I have my camera out.

In case you are wondering, she’s eating dirt.  So much for a girly girl! ;)

She was so excited because she saw Daddy driving up with her brother:
