A Star is Born

I just had a take a minute and congratulate one of my little clients. Recently she signed with a agency and she auditioned for her first movie role and she got it! How’s that for a first try!? There’s no looking back now. Her Mom & Dad told me that she is so excited, she has her very own Star Wagon with a big screen tv in it.

Congratulations Miss M! This is only the first of many big and wonderful things for you! Don’t forget me when you win your first Oscar!

Her Dad sent me a photo of her with actor Danny Glover on the set the other night when they were filming.

Here are a couple of photos from a session with her and her little brother. I bet it won’t be long before he’s acting too. He’s already doing some catalog work!

The Unbirthday Party

On Saturday my good friend Barb, or as she is known in the photography community “Jinky”, joined us for a day of fun and we took our girls to American Girl at The Grove here in Los Angeles.  Her family is on holiday here from Australia.  Another photographer friend of ours, Rachel, joined us with her beautiful little girl Gemma.

We had a very fun Unbirthday Party for the girls… meaning they sang happy birthday, we had lunch and cake but it wasn’t anyone’s birthday, just a little celebration with friends. (translation – if you pay $10 more per person at American Girl they will throw a party for you but they always assume it’s a birthday so we went with it!).  I’ll confess that I didn’t really take a lot of photos because we were all so busy talking and chasing around our little ones.  It was so wonderful to spend a day with the girls.

For those of you who don’t know Jinky, well you absolutely have to check out her work.  I think it’s only a matter of time before she is a household name here in America.  She is already creating a sensation in Australia and I’m so excited for her.  She’s so inspiring, talented, funny and so humble.  Her work is truly innovative and one of a kind. Here is her website: http://www.jinkyart.com.au/ , I think you’ll fall in love with her work like I have.  I think the best part of it all is that she’s such a nice person in addition to being such a photography rockstar, she hasn’t let her success go to her head.

Here are just a couple of snapshots from our adventure…

It was so cute how they had these little cameras and when they would take a picture of you they would put their fingers over one eye.  How cute is that!?

Beautiful Miss Gemma

Ooh I’m soooo jealous!!!!!!!

Happy Father’s Day!

I hope all you Dad’s out there had a wonderful day today!  We sure had a nice one and the weather was beautiful which made it even better.

My son made this in his Kindergarten class for my husband.  It’s a desk organizer, on the other side there is a pen holder and a place for post it notes.  Such a sweet gift from the heart!

This afternoon we came home and the kids were begging to go swimming, but it was too windy so we compromised and got out the foam machine.  It uses baby shampoo so it doesn’t burn their eyes and it is one of their favorite things to do.  We got it at the end of last summer at KB toys on clearance for super cheap.  If you have a chance to get one you won’t be sorry, your kids will love it!

Here are a few snaps from our foam party!

and my little one, loves wearing a towel on her head after we are done, I didn’t put her in the Mom Rocks shirt, my mother-in-law did when she was visiting earlier today.  I know I know, it should say Dad Rocks since it is father’s day afterall! ;-)

OMgosh! I have to get a foam factory! Love these images!

Happy Friday!

Ok I have to start off to tell you that JC Penney is having a special two day sale which is today and tomorrow only.  I went tonight and scored big time for the kids.  Things are marked 60% off on most items, lots of super cute kids clothes.  It’s one of those good sales where you could buy for next summer and be set if you guesstimate what size your kids will be in next year.  My daughter is so rough on her clothes at preschool so I’m all about getting a good deal on her stuff, tons of cute little tshirts were $3, shorts same price, cute dresses for $6.99.  Special thanks to blog readers Stacy & Robyn for letting me know about the sale.  They have some cute things, I was surprised, I normally don’t think to go there to shop, but I’ll have to check them out more often.

I’m so excited about tomorrow!  One of my dear friends, who also is a photographer is here all the way from Australia!  I’ll talk more about her in my post tomorrow, I know all my photographer friends who read my blog will know who she is, she’s so amazing and talented and it won’t be long before she’s a household name here in the United States.   Another photographer friend is joining us and we are taking our girls to a very special place for lunch.  Three photographers, four little girls, oh just imagine the photo ops waiting for us!  This is going to be so much fun.

No client images this weekend, maybe I’ll share a few other sessions that I haven’t shared yet, but this weekend is all about friends and family.  I hope you all have finished your Father’s Day shopping!  Don’t wait until tomorrow night if you haven’t shopped, head to the mall in the morning (don’t forget about that sale at JC Penney!).

I took my son out last night and found some funky places to shoot at for his “senior photos”.  He’s graduating from Kindergarten next week!  I swear he’s five going on fifteen.  He has my heart, I love his little spirit, his kind heart, his amazing smile and of course all that curly hair!  How lucky am I?  He’s growing up so fast!  When he was born he was in the NICU for 3 weeks and at that time I was so worried because he was sick.  You would never know he started out his life that way when you see him now.

I love his shirt!

OMG, Angela, I love these photos of your little guy! His hair cracks me up. BTW, your new location rocks. Have fun tomorrow with J and show us the pictures asap!

Angela, I just love the idea of “senior” pictures as he graduates from kindergarten! That’s just too fun! But how in the world did you get him to pose so perfectly for you? I can’t get my kids to take this kind of direction to save my life! He’s such a cutie.

And yeah, I love that shirt too.

Portrait Albums & Storyboards oh my!

Lions and tigers and bears oh my! Oh wait, wrong topic, we are talking about photography stuff!

I’ve received a few emails this week about my albums and storyboards so I thought I would also show them here on the blog just in case anyone else out there was wondering.

The album and the storyboard are hands down two of my most favorite and most popular items with my clients!  Here are a couple of photos of an album that I have prepared and ready to ship out to one of my clients.  This is actually their second album, the first one their grandparents loved so much they snagged it from their Dad so he had to order another one for them.  My not so good product photography does not do these albums justice.  They come in a thick black box that is lined in black satin (brown is available on request) and it contains a black leather album that holds 24 – 5×7 size of your favorite images from your session.  The best part is, that I switched to the slip in type of album so if you ever want to remove them you can without damaging the photos.

Storyboards are typically 20×10, however we can go larger if you want!  Here’s an example of one, and they are 3-5 photos depending on the images you choose (meaning horizontal or vertical).  You can get them mounted on styrene or a gallery wrap canvas!  Text is not necessary, but I put it on this one just to give you an idea of how it could look.
